Leads creative vision, sets editorial direction and manages editorial/programming teams for exciting new major Internet movie and television website. The senior editor will be responsible to executes on both long-lead programming strategies as well as short-term audience building tactics, with the primary goals of increasing page views, page views per unique visitors each month, and time spent on the site.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

• Must have minimum Bachelor’s Degree and 8-10 years of directly related experience, with 2-3 years of editorial management experience, preferably with an entertainment-focused publication and/or website. Online editorial experience is preferable.
• Responsible for creating the overall tactical and strategic plans for the site in tandem with market, member, and partner needs.
• Oversees the planning, development, quality standards, and creation of all programs, ensuring that they are in perspective and running efficiently.
• Monitors program quality and leads problem solving efforts, and preserves the creative environment.
• Possesses comprehensive knowledge and expertise in entertainment content areas – serves, in conjunction with business lead, as senior approval source of content presentation and placement within the channel.
• Uses expert knowledge of subject matter, research, and analysis to develop new programs.
• Handles questions about complex material easily and persuasively.
• Responsible for overall planning and development of entertainment content and originates concepts by observing the market and user behaviors.
• Identifies trends and articulates implications that will have impact on the site including content acquisition, content placement and promotion.
• Identifies and pursues opportunities for innovation for programming and content and sets the tone for the work unit through vision formulation, strategy development, communication, and management skills.
• Demonstrates the ability to persuade, negotiate and lead teams.
• Works in tandem with business leads to assure the availability of necessary resources -- human, equipment, and financial.
• Serves as the main point of contact to senior management for editorial.
• Demonstrates ability to work inter-departmentally to execute initiative and secure resources.
• Manages departmental and cross-departmental initiatives efficiently and effectively.
• Communicates and coordinates internally with departments as well as externally with vendors, partners, IP’s, etc., to achieve integration of goals and activities.
• Dedicated to continuous improvement; possesses sufficient knowledge to constructively challenge current practices or approaches.
• Supervises one or more first level managers or project teams. Assigns projects to managers; measures results and provides feedback. Initiates personnel actions and shepherds the performance management process -- identifies developmental needs for staff.
• Skillful communicator - comprehensive knowledge of various communication mediums and their respective power and impact potentials -- superior editorial skills -- can identify appropriate medium, timing, promotional level and frequency of communications.
• Strong verbal and written communicator; articulates opinions and helps guide the work unit.
• Provides vision and leadership to the department.
• Responsible for administering personnel issues including manpower planning, developing and managing staff.
