The Editor of hollywoodreporter.com is the content leader and produces and manages high quality content between the digital and print divisions. The position resides in Los Angeles.
Job Description: Partner with senior editorial leaders and digital strategist to create and maintain a compelling online site that serves our audience needs. Plan and develop content for all online editorial sections. Hire, train, supervise, motivate and develop staff. Maintain standards of professionalism and leadership both internally and externally. Continually assess and implement changes in design and readability of the online site, working in conjunction with publisher and digital team. Work with editors to build and maintain editorial excellence. Uncover trends in markets, recommending new editorial coverage, feature content and unique content for the hollywoodreporter.com site. Qualifications: Understanding of vertical search, social networking, blogging, video, and databases are preferred. Strong knowledge of the mobile & gaming space. 5+ years of experience in a senior role within the editorial profession 5+ and publishing environment Management experience Prefer daily and online experience Strong entertainment experience in the film, TV, cable, digital and related areas such as international and domestic law is highly preferred Media experience would be very valuable Knowledge of HMTL is strongly preferred Understanding of flash advertising and flash video Familiarity with online content management systems Experience preparing tech requirement documents for site improvement Prefer candidates technically competent with encoding video/QuickTime files also: • Strong interactive media experience • Print/Digital/Brand Stewardship • Forward looking view about entertainment market and the competitive interactive landscape between entertainment focused sites • High sense of urgency to create breaking news • Familiarity with data due to our connection with Nielsen Media Research, EDI, Soundscan, and other entertainment data properties. • Highly collaborative as an editorial and business leader within sister companies like Nielsen, Billboard, Back Stage and Kirkus Reviews. • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team. • Be able to maneuver in both creative and business environments • Takes personal accountability & initiative • Identifies issues (pro-active) and remedies problems • Takes action to resolve (can-do) deliverables • Goes beyond what is required (ownership) • Strong personal effectiveness skills including coaching, conflict resolution, and encourage strong collaboration internally and externally • Maintains composure and leadership even in highly visible conflict situations • Deals effectively with others (Internal and external); seeks win-win solutions. • Looks for new ways of doing things (creativity) and cost-effectively • Successful at building collaborative relationships. • Demonstrates maturity and balance – is free from behavior that would detract from overall effectiveness in executing the job PLEASE APPLY AT WWW.NIELSEN.COM - REQUISITION ID #2727BR |
