San Francisco - Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has announced plans to stop selling the 20GB version of its PlayStation 3 in North America, saying consumers have been purchasing the 60GB, more fully-featured model by a ratio of 10 to 1, the Associated Press reported.

SCEA spokesman Dave Karraker told AP that retailers still have "several thousand" of the 20GB models on their shelves, which will remain on sale at the $499 price point until stock runs out.

Along with more storage capacity, the $599, 60GB PlayStation 3 also features more accessory ports and wireless connectivity.

Sony said it will continue to sell the 20GB model in Japan. The 60GB PlayStation 3 is currently the only version available in Europe.
