Networked Home Entertainment Developer Avega Systems Raises $7 Million

Sunnyvale, Calif. - Avega Systems, a developer of networked home entertainment technology platforms, said on Tuesday that it has raised $7 million in its second round of funding, receiving investments from Cisco Systems, JAFCO Asia and Technology Venture Partners.

The company, which bases its research and development activities in Australia, said that it will use the funds to accelerate its technology development and marketing efforts.

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Avega's core technology platform is aimed at enabling whole-home, multi-zone connectivity to content from sources such as Internet radio, PCs, portable media players, cell phones and set-top boxes.

The company was founded in 2004 and has 35 employees.
