Los Angeles - Nintendo has announced that U.S. pre-orders for its forthcoming "Pokemon Diamond" and "Pokemon Pearl" games for the DS handheld system have topped 533,000, and are already expected to be two of the top-selling titles overall for 2007.

The two games are slated for U.S. release on April 22.

Nintendo said that pre-orders for the games are more than double the pre-orders placed for "Pokemon FireRed" and "Pokemon LeafGreen," which were released in 2004 and sold a combined more than 3.4 million units in North America.
