New York - Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S., a unit of Lagardere and publisher of titles including Car and Driver and Road & Track, announced on Thursday that it has acquired Jumpstart Automotive Media, an online ad network for the automotive industry.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The seven-year-old, San Francisco-based Jumpstart will assume ad sales for HFMUS' websites, which when aggregated with Jumpstart's network attract a total of 5 million unique monthly visitors.

"The acquisition of Jumpstart gives us scale and expertise in the online automotive marketplace, the largest and most important ad category on the Web," said HFMUS president and CEO Jack Kliger.

"By combining the strong digital platform of Jumpstart with our well-established brands Car and Driver, Road & Track and Cycle World, Jumpstart and Hachette will be well-positioned to capitalize on future growth opportunities in the automotive category and to create more powerful offerings for our advertising partners in the future."
