Former Dean Internet Strategist Joe Trippi Joining John Edwards Campaign

Washington - Joe Trippi, the former Silicon Valley business consultant who used the Internet to greatly boost the campaign of former Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean, said that he has joined forces with Democrat John Edwards in his bid for the White House.

The Edwards campaign announced that Trippi will be a "key member" of its media team, as well as a senior advisor.

Writing in Edwards' campaign blog, Trippi said that he had expected to remain out of politics following Dean's 2004 campaign, but changed his mind following Edwards' decision to press on after the revelation of his wife Elizabeth's recurrence of cancer.

"And that made me realize that I wasn't done trying to make a difference either," Trippi wrote.

"[Edwards is] offering big ideas backed by real plans to change our country. And so his campaign is the place where I will work to make whatever difference I can."
