Take-Two Settles Lawsuits with Video Game Attorney Jack Thompson

New York - Video game publisher Take-Two Interactive has settled several lawsuits filed against attorney Jack Thompson, an outspoken critic of game violence who has been involved in several lawsuits against Take-Two, GamePolitics.com reported.

Under the settlement, Take-Two will drop a pre-emptive lawsuit it filed against Thompson, seeking to block him from trying to have its games declared a "public nuisance" in Florida, and also cease its efforts to have Thompson declared in contempt of court over a separate video game case in Florida.

For his part, Thompson has dropped a counterclaim against Take-Two, and has agreed not to sue or threaten to sue to block sale or distribution of any games from Take-Two or its subsidiaries.

Thompson is also forbidden to make any future contacts with Take-Two through its attorneys, or to communicate to Take-Two or any of its business partners that the company committed any wrongdoing in selling its games.

The settlement does not prohibit Thompson from criticizing the content contained in Take-Two titles, or from representing third-party plaintiffs in lawsuits against the company.
