Dallas - DG FastChannel, a provider of digital media services to the advertising and broadcast industries, announced on Tuesday that it will acquire Pathfire, a distributor of news and syndicated programming via satellite and the Internet, in a stock transaction valued at $30 million.

Roswell, Ga.-based Pathfire's technology, deployed on over 10,000 computers in U.S. TV stations, is used in distributing news programming from ABC and CNN, and syndicated programs like "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and "Friends."

The company generated revenues of $16.2 million in 2006.

"Significant opportunities exist to consolidate the extensive satellite and terrestrial networks operated by both DG FastChannel and Pathfire to further enhance the reach of file-based delivery of all types of media, while at the same time providing redundant delivery paths for enhanced reliability," said DG FastChannel chairman and CEO Scott Ginsburg.
