Santa Monica, Calif. - Yahoo's music unit announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with Gracenote, a provider of CD and digital track identification services, to offer its users access to Gracenote's new database of song lyrics.

The first such agreement for Gracenote with a mass-market Web service will deliver lyrics for hundreds of thousands of songs from all five major music publishers to Yahoo Music users.

Emeryville, Calif.-based Gracenote, which began developing its lyrics database two years ago and has signed licensing deals with more than 100 publishers, said that song lyrics are continually among the top 10 searches performed on major search engines.
