Los Angeles - News Corp.'s MySpace online social network announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with reality TV show producer Mark Burnett ("Survivor," "The Apprentice") on a multiplatform political reality show.

"Independent" will select a candidate for a $1 million award, which must be spent in a political context, such as contributing to a political action group, creating a new political party or launching an independent run for the White House.

Prospective candidates submit videos of themselves via MySpace; chosen contestants will then be presented with issues and challenges, and tasked with creating solutions whose effectiveness will be judged by the MySpace community and broadcast TV audience.

MySpace and Burnett said they are currently seeking a broadcast partner for "Independent," which is slated to launch in early 2008.
