New York - News Corp.'s MySpace has launched a beta test of a version of its online social network in China, Reuters reported.

The locally-owned company's backers include MySpace, publisher IDG and China Broadband Capital Partners.

MySpace China will be headed by Luo Chuan, the former head of MSN China.

"Based on the MySpace global brand and technology platform, we will develop products and features that are tailored to today's Chinese citizens," Luo said.

Earlier this week, MySpace announced the launch of Spanish-language versions of its service for U.S. Hispanics and Latin Americans; other versions are planned for Germany, Japan and Spain.

In Chinese, the logo for MySpace China translates as "Friend You. Friend Me."
