Analysis: Webby Awards - Is Self-promotion a Key to Success?

Authored by Heather Hopkins on April 30, 2007 - 9:43am.
The winners of the prestigious Webby Awards will be announced tomorrow and in the People's Voice category, consumers may vote for their favourites. I noticed many websites promoting their nomination and encouraging fans to vote for them. If self-promotion is the secret to success, MiniClip Games is set to be a winner...

The #1 website referring traffic to the People's Voice Webby Awards website last week in both the US and UK was MiniClip Games. Last week, 21.60% of the site's US visits came from MiniClip Games. The #2 source of US visits was Yahoo! Mail accounting for 14.50% of visits. 43.26% of UK visits came from MiniClip and 4.68% came from Manchester United's website, also nominated for an award.

The following tables provide the top 10 UK and US upstream websites for the People's Voice Webby Awards Website from last week. Good luck to all and I look forward to finding out tomorrow whether self-promotion is a key to success.
