Velocity Micro Acquires Gaming Computer Maker Overdrive PC

Richmond, Va. - Velocity Micro, a builder of custom computers and workstations, said on Wednesday that it has acquired Overdrive PC, a boutique manufacturer of gaming and multimedia computer systems based near Atlanta.

Financial terms between the two privately held firms were not disclosed.

Overdrive PC's core technology includes Hyperclocking, an extreme mode of "overclocking," which is the practice of tweaking PC components to run at significantly higher speeds.

Overdrive PC will relocate all operations to Velocity Micro's corporate headquarters in Richmond, Va.

Mario Cifaldi, the CTO and founder of Overdrive PC, will serve as director of advanced technologies and also as general manager of the Overdrive PC division.
