RealNetworks' Music Revenue Up 18% in Q1; Subscribers Hit 2.67 Million

Seattle - RealNetworks, a provider of media delivery technology and subscription services, said it saw an 18% increase in digital music revenue in the first quarter of 2007, to $34.1 million, ending the period with a total of 2.67 million subscribers, up from 1.57 million a year ago.

The company's Rhapsody.com Web-based music service ranks as the fourth most-popular music-related website, according to Nielsen/NetRatings.

Overall, RealNetworks reported a 61% increase in earnings for the first quarter, to $40 million, with revenues of $129.5 million, up from $89.6 million a year ago.

The company's performance beat analysts' expectations and sent RealNetworks' shares higher on Thursday.
