Mobile Community Site Mig33 Raises $10 Million

Burlingame, Calif. - Mig33, the developer of a mobile Internet community with more than 4 million users, said on Monday that it has raised $10 million in its first round of funding, co-led by Accel Partners and Redpoint Ventures.

Technology Venture Partners also participated in the round, which the company plans to use to expand its service.

Launched in late 2005, Burlingame, Calif.-based mig33 offers users mobile VoIP calls, instant messaging, text messaging and social networking and community features, allowing them to share content in forums and chat rooms.

The service currently is in beta in more than 200 countries, including India, Monaco and South Africa, and expects to launch in the U.S. in the next few months.
