Buzz Watch: Gordon Gekko Returns in “Wall Street” SequelAuthored by Scott Goldberg on May 9, 2007 - 9:57am.
The man famous for the line “Greed is good” in the 1987 Oliver Stone film “Wall Street” is set to reappear in a sequel titled “Money Never Sleeps.” No release date has been announced, though the film’s script will be completed later in the year. Michael Douglas will play the role of Gordon Gekko once again, but Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen), the protégé who put him in prison, will not reappear. Early reports indicate that Stone will not direct the sequel, though Edward Pressman, producer of the first movie, supposedly courted him to do so for months. The script will be written by Stephen Schiff, who also wrote “True Crime.” With the Dow now comfortably above 13,000 and major M&A rumors swirling daily, could there be a better time for Gordon Gekko to enlighten us on his prison-born wisdom?
