Sheffield, England - Cometa Wireless Gaming Systems, a developer of mobile phone gambling technology, has raised $1.9 million in its first round of venture capital financing, led by fellow mobile phone gambling firm Mfusion.

Other investors included a consortium of business angels led by Dr. Tony Marchington, former CEO of Oxford Molecular Group.

Founded in 2004, U.K.-based Cometa has developed technology that allows casino-style games to be played securely and in real-time on mobile phones, as well as a portfolio of mobile casino and prize games.

The company says it is in talks with a number of mobile games and gambling operators on distribution of its technology.
