Reston, Va. - Avail Media, a provider of advanced media services to broadband operators, said on Tuesday that it has raised $17 million in its second round of venture capital funding, co-led by Novak Biddle Venture Partners and Columbia Capital.

Reston, Va.-based Avail said that the round will help it to expand its services and hire additional employees in operations and technology development.

The company, created earlier this year by the merger of Auroras Entertainment and Broadstream Communications, has developed technology that allows broadband operators to acquire Internet video directly from programmers in its full-resolution and unaltered format.

Avail possesses a content rights library of over 300 channels from programmers such as ABC-Disney, Turner, NBC-Universal, MTV Networks, Fox Networks and Discovery.
