San Diego - Sony Online Entertainment, the company's online game development unit, announced that it has acquired Sigil Games Online, developers of the "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes" multiplayer title.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

SOE acquired the rights to Vanguard last May and has co-published the title with Sigil; the game has sold nearly 200,000 units since launching in January.

SOE said a majority of the Carlsbad, Calif.-based Sigil team will join the company.
