London - Following the major label's announcement yesterday that it would provide DRM-free music for sale on retail giant Amazon.com's forthcoming digital music store, EMI Music said that it has additionally signed deals to provide its artists' tracks free of digital rights management to other European retailers. Before labels jump to remove

Before labels jump to remove DRM they should lower the barriers of entry for ad-supported models and see what happens to their revenues. Sure if people have to pay for music they would prefer that it be interoperable with their variety of devices. But they'd prefer not to pay for it at all.
