CBS formed new partnerships with Automattic, Clearspring, DAVE Networks, Goowy Media, meebo, MeeVee, Musestorm, Ning, RockYou, Slide, VideoEgg, Voxant and vSocial, and expanded existing deals with AOL, Brightcove, Netvibes and Veoh.

"In launching the CBS Audience Network we solidified our position as the most widely distributed professional content provider on the Web thanks to our great video distribution partners," said CBS Interactive president Quincy Smith.

"We now want to empower our audience to be creative and deepen their experience with our content by allowing them to share and embed CBS-provided clips."

Some color on the CBS Audience Network announcement

For some further color on the CBS announcement, of which my company, vSocial, is a part of, check out my blog on the topic at http://www.thenetworkgarden.com. In particular, there is a reference to an article I wrote called "Social Media: It's About Breadcrumbs and Conversations" that attempts to provide a thesis for how this trend plays out for enterprises, major brands and media players. Here is the URL to that article if you are interested in the topic: http://thenetworkgarden.com/weblog/2007/05/breadcrumbs_and.html Cheers, Mark Sigal vSocial - Say it with Video! www.vsocial.com
