Tokyo - Sony has released a software upgrade for its PlayStation 3 that improves image quality for movies and legacy games, and also provides "place-shifting" of content stored on the PS3's hard drive to a PSP handheld.
The update improves resolution for PS2 and PlayStation titles, as well as movies.
It will also allow access via PSP to music, photos and videos stored on the PS3 while away from home over any Internet connection, a la Sling Media's Slingbox.
The software update was made available for PS3 owners on Thursday.
