Los Angeles - Variety reports that 20th Century Fox has acquired the motion picture rights to game publisher Electronic Arts' "The Sims," and plans to produce a live-action movie headed by John Davis ("Eragon," "When A Stranger Calls").
Created by veteran game designer Wil Wright, the franchise has sold 85 million units and generated over $1.6 billion in sales.
A script penned by Brian Lynch ("Big Helium Dog," "Scary Movie 3") is currently in the works.
