Dating Site eHarmony Sued Over Exclusion of Gays

Los Angeles - Online dating service eHarmony has been sued by a California woman, who claims that she was denied access to the site because she is gay.

Founded in 2000 by evangelical Christian Neil Clark Warren, the site profited early on from promotion from the conservative group Focus on the Family, and now claims 12 million users.

"The research that eHarmony has developed, through years of research, to match couples has been based on traits and personality patterns of successful heterosexual marriages. Nothing precludes us from providing same-sex matching in the future. It's just not a service we offer now based upon the research we have conducted," eHarmony said in a statement.

Linda Carlson, whose attorneys filed the lawsuit, told Reuters that "such outright discrimination is hurtful and disappointing for a business open to the public in this day and age."

The lawsuit, which is seeking class action status, seeks unspecified damages for those affected, and a change in eHarmony's policy.

This is crazy...

Linda Carson, if she is truly gay, undoubtedly knows that there are sites out there SPECIFICALLY for gays to find a mate - where men seeking women and women seeking men are not allowed. This is an attack in a continued effort to push the gay agenda. We need to stand up to these types of attacks and squash the effort of gays to push their BELIEFS on others that don't believe in their religion. Gays need to be more torrent of what others believe and stop pushing themselves into our lives.

This is not crazy..

Yes, there are many sites out there, but as we all know, discrimination is what it is. and being gay is not a "belief" we do not pray to a "gay god" so therfore you sheep that call yourselves "christians" should learn what reality is....and since christians are of various faiths...which one is right?? oh I know...Jesus is coming...soon.....right.

Not only crazy, but illogical

Dean, While the premise that there are multiple faiths is true and that there are even differences among those called Christian, the conclusion that none are correct is illogical. One of them could very well be TRUE. Yes, I truly believe there is one true truth - an absolute universal truth that transcends all time and space. I'll leave that up to you to discover what (Who?) that is. If there is a higher moral standard and it says homosexuality is wrong, then it is wrong for all people, for all time. Mere humans cannot dictate that absolute standard. If you do not believe in an absolute moral standard and only in biological law, then it is also wrong. How does a genetically created female (given all the female parts) also get a genetically given desire for the same sex? They would be diametrically opposed genes in the same body. Look at many of the homosexual men. Very full of testosterone and having male parts. What gene creates the conflict and makes them attractive to other males? (while not necessarily aware of the conflict, it would be there nonetheless.) This would be a negative mutation that would not propagate a species and would eventually drive it too extinction if it weren't for modern science producing certain fertilization methods. Which also is not biological.
