Alicante, Spain - Panoramio, a photo storage and sharing site that has been tightly integrated with Google Earth, announced this week that it has reached an agreement to be acquired by Google for an undisclosed sum.

Users of the Google Earth satellite image-based mapping application can click on buttons in various locales around the world, and see photos of those locations that have been submitted by Panoramio users.

The Spain-based company said on its blog that it will adopt Google infrastructure and further integrate its service into Google's mapping technologies.

"To watch our little project grow since its conception one and a half years ago has been an amazing experience, and we hope to make it even bigger with this step and with your continued support," Panoramio's founders wrote on the company's blog.
