San Diego - Slacker, the developer of a desktop music player and Wi-Fi-enabled portable music player, has raised $40 million in its second round of funding, PEHub.com reported.

New investors Centennial Ventures and Rho Ventures co-led the round, which also included participation from previous investors Austin Ventures, Mission Ventures and Sevin Rosen Funds.

San Diego-based Slacker debuted its desktop music player in March, which allows users to create personalized radio stations based on their tastes -- similar to offerings from Pandora or Last.fm.

The company is also developing a Wi-Fi- and satellite-enabled portable music player, which will provide access to the Slacker Personal Radio service while away from the computer.
