San Francisco - Scribd, a site that allows users to upload and share documents of all kinds, has received a $3.5 million investment from Redpoint Ventures, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

Launched in March, the Scribd service supports formats including PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OpenOffice. The service attracted 1.73 million unique visitors last month, and now receives around 1,000 document uploads each day.

San Francisco-based Scribd will use the funds to hire additional staff.
