Universal Music Group is seeking a Senior Director, Business and Legal Affairs for the New York, NY office.
Overview: This position is responsible for a heavy transaction flow in connection with the distribution, sales, marketing, financing, acquisition, and licensing of digital content and technology licensing associated therewith. Responsibilities: Provide ongoing legal counseling resulting from the above-mentioned transactions. This will include drafting, reviewing and negotiating a variety of legal agreements such as content license agreements, distribution agreements and technology service agreements. A large component of the work will also include reviewing agreements relating to recorded music business. The attorney will support the senior business affairs staff in Los Angeles and NY . Skills and Requirements: • BA/BS degree & JD required • 7-10 years experience preferred. Strong law firm experience/training required. • Proven, in-depth knowledge of agreements relating to the distribution, sales, marketing, financing or recorded music and video product a must. • Must be adept at drafting and negotiating licensing deals. • Familiar with record label issues. • A background in corporate and Internet transactions, including content licensing a plus. • Strong customer/client service skills a must. • Must be able to work under time constraints. • Ability to multi-task and juggle competing priorities. • Computer experience: Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. • Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. • Highly motivated and with a desire to work in a team environment. • Ability to keep information confidential. • Must be willing to work extended hours. • Must be self-directed and well organized.
