12 Midwestern Universities Join Google Book Search Library ProjectAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on June 6, 2007 - 4:06pm.
Minneapolis - The University of Minnesota, along with 11 other Midwestern universities that comprise the Committee on Institutional Cooperation, announced that they have partnered with Google to digitize up to 10 million books as part of the Google Books Library Project. Other schools in the group include the University of Michigan, University of Chicago and Indiana University. "Google's vast capacity for digitization far exceeds that of any of the participating institutions alone, making this effort a true partnership that reveals the historical depth of these collections from the heartland," said Wendy Pradt Lougee, head librarian at the University of Minnesota.
