Arlington, Va. - NBC Universal said on Wednesday that it will use a content syndication and distribution platform developed by Clearspring Technologies to turn some of its news, sports and entertainment programming into widgets.

The move will allow Internet users to then post the content onto their own blogs, social network profiles and websites.

Initial launch widgets will include content from "Dateline," "Hardball with Chris Matthews," "Meet the Press" and "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams," as well as content from NBC Sports, DotComedy.com and iVillage.com.
