Content Delivery Network Limelight Networks Raises $170M in IPO

Tempe, Ariz. - Limelight Networks, a provider of content delivery network services that speed media content across the Internet, on Friday raised about $170 million in its initial public offering of shares on the Nasdaq Stock Market.

The company had initially expected to raise $114 million, a figure later upped to $135 million, according to regulatory filings.

Founded in 2001, Arizona-based Limelight provides content delivery network services to over 800 customers, including Microsoft, IFilm, MSNBC, DreamWorks Animation and Current TV.

The company will use the proceeds to repay debt, as well as for working capital, general corporate purposes, and potential acquisitions.
