Nintendo of America to Lose 60% of Sales & Marketing Staff

San Francisco - Faced with the prospect of having to relocate from the company's Redmond, Wash. headquarters to offices in either New York or San Francisco, about 60% of Nintendo of America's sales and marketing staff has chosen instead to leave the company, Gamasutra reported.

"Virtually all of the employees affected by the relocation plan have now responded with their decisions, and approximately four of every ten have agreed to make the move to either New York of the Bay area, in keeping with our original expectations," Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told Gamasutra.

"We will miss the talent, energy and experience from those who have chosen not to relocate."

Nintendo has been riding high over the past year, reaping the dual sales successes of its DS handheld game system and next-generation Wii console.

The company did not comment on whether key executives, such as senior marketing vice president George Harrison or vice president of marketing Perrin Kaplan, would be remaining with the company.
