Electronics Retailer Tweeter Restructuring Under Chapter 11

Canton, Mass. - Tweeter Home Entertainment Group, a, specialty consumer electronics retailer, has filed for protection under Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

As part of its restructuring, the company announced that it has already obtained commitments for $60 million of debtor-in-possession financing, provided by General Electric Capital.

Founded in 1972 by the company's chairman, Sandy Bloomberg, Tweeter's fiscal 2006 revenues were $775 million.

The Canton, Mass.-based company operates 130 stores in New England, the Mid-Atlantic, Chicago, the Southeast, Texas, Phoenix and Las Vegas.
