New York - Google's YouTube has partnered with Time Warner and Disney to test new video fingerprinting technology, developed by Google engineers, that is designed to help content owners identify videos uploaded without permission, Reuters reported.

The new tools are expected to be available for testing in about a month; YouTube has previously said it is working to implement similar fingerprinting technology from Audible Magic.

"The technology was built with the Disney's and Time Warner's in mind," YouTube partner development director Chris Maxcy told Reuters; Maxcy added that Google has been testing similar audio fingerprinting technology with record labels.

The tools will allow copyright owners to identify unauthorized clips, and then either remove them from YouTube themselves, or allow them to remain online and share in ad revenue generated from it with YouTube.

The company told Reuters that the tools will be made available to all content owners later this year, depending on results of the tests.
