Toshiba Lowers U.S. HD DVD Player Sales ForecastAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on June 12, 2007 - 4:39pm.
Tokyo - Japanese electronics firm Toshiba has lowered its U.S. sales forecast for its line of next-generation HD DVD players, and now expects to sell 1 million of the devices by the end of the year, down from a previous forecast of 1.8 million, Reuters reported. "Sales in the U.S. have been slower than expected, and we are going to have to lower our U.S. sales forecast," Yoshihide Fujii, head of Toshiba's digital consumer business, told Reuters. Fujii added the company would likely have to revise its global sales estimate; Toshiba previously forecasted it would sell 3 million worldwide by March 2008.
