Towson, Md. - In a move underscoring the continuing integration of newspapers and the Internet, The New York Times has hired a 21-year-old whose blog -- called TVNewser -- has became a staple for TV executives, The Baltimore Sun reported on Wednesday.

The Times had profiled Brian Stelter, a recent graduate of Towson University, in a front-page article that ran in November. Now, Stelter will cover the television news industry for the paper's website, with occasional pieces also published in print.

In a memo to staff, Lawrence Ingrassia, the paper's business editor, called the hiring an "expansion of our efforts to integrate what we do online and in the print edition."

Stelter launched his blog in 2004. "I've been fascinated by how this new platform -- blogging -- can relate to the old platform of newspapers," Stelter told The Sun.

"Five years ago, I was becoming a little skeptical of newspapers. But now I look at this new media stuff they're doing, and I'm a lot more confident."
