Reston, Va. - comScore, a provider of Internet audience measurement services, said on Wednesday that it has launched a new service to track the usage of widgets -- free-standing programs typically displayed in small viewing panes on blogs, social networking sites and other personalized pages. According to the company's Widget Metrix service, about 178 million unique visitors viewed Web widgets in April, with the majority of the widgets related to photos.
