Tokyo - Sony may ship up to 600,000 of its next-generation Blu-ray Disc players in the U.S. this year, up from the less than 100,000 units it shipped in 2006, Bloomberg reported. Randy Waynick, senior vice president of the company's U.S. home products division, told Bloomberg the exact number would depend on how competitive the market becomes with rival Toshiba's HD DVD player.
