New York - The Texas Attorney General's office said it arrested seven convicted sex offenders this week, based on personal details on the men turned over by social networking site MySpace, where the men had created profiles.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott said in a statement that six of the men were arrested for violating terms of parole that forbade them from using the Internet, while another had failed to register as a sex offender.

MySpace partnered with a company called Sentinel last year to cross-reference its member base against registered sex offender lists and create a national database.

The Texas Attorney General's website also features both pictures of the men, and video footage of their arrests.
