Redwood City, Calif. - Video game developer and publisher Electronic Arts announced a restructuring of the company that will divide its business into four unique studios and publishing teams, with its stated goal to "streamline decision-making, improve global focus, and speed new ideas to market."

The four labels are EA Sports, to be led by EA executive vice president Joel Linzer; EA Games, led by label president Frank Gibeau; EA Casual Entertainment, headed by president Kathy Vrabeck; and The Sims, which will be run by label president Nancy Smith.

EA said the four labels will also be supported by two new groups: Central Development Services and Global Publishing.

"This transition will be implemented over the course of the coming months," said EA chief executive John Riccitiello. "EA is privileged to have a deep bench of proven talent and our new structure encourages people to bring great ideas into the market more quickly."
