Los Angeles - D3Publisher of America, the U.S. unit of the Japanese game publisher, announced on Wednesday that it will acquire Vicious Cycle Software, a Chapel Hill, N.C.-based game developer.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The two companies have already collaborated on titles including "Dead Head Fred" and "Flushed Away," based on the DreamWorks film.

The deal also includes Vicious Cycle's Vicious Engine game development technology for consoles, handhelds and the PC.
