Report: News Corp. Ponders Swap of MySpace for Yahoo Stake

Authored by Mark Hefflinger on June 20, 2007 - 1:31pm.

London - News Corporation had held talks with Yahoo about swapping its MySpace unit for a 30% stake in Yahoo, the Times Online reported.

The article said the tentative discussions could break down following the resignation of Yahoo CEO Terry Semel this week, and did not provide an indication of Yahoo's interest in the offer.

News Corp. paid $580 million to acquire MySpace in 2005; just one-quarter of Yahoo, based on its current share price, would be worth $11.1 billion.
