New York - A whopping 80% of U.S. males ages 18 to 24 now watch online videos at least once a week, with a majority of Americans (52%) aged 12 to 64 also going online weekly to view news, movie previews and user-generated videos, according to a report from market research firm Frank N. Magid Associates.

The March 2007 survey also found that 14% of Americans now watch online videos daily, up 14% from a year ago; 35% of young males report watching Web videos every day.

News stores are the most popular form of online video -- viewed regularly by over a third of Americans now -- followed by a category that included jokes/bloopers, weather and movie previews, and closely trailed in third place by user-generated videos on YouTube and similar sites.

"The breadth of content viewed by consumers regularly online is amazing," said Magid Associates senior vice president Mike Vorhaus.

"This is not just short clips on YouTube. Consumers are watching news stories, movie previews, clips from TV shows, and, in some cases, even full-length TV shows and movies."
