New York - NBC Universal Digital Media announced on Wednesday that it has made an undisclosed investment in the second round of financing for blog publisher and social network operator Sugar Publishing.

Founded in 2006, San Francisco-based Sugar Publishing operates a range of woman-focused sites including PopSugar, GeekSugar and FitSugar, which collectively draw 4.5 million unique visitors per month.

As part of the agreement, the Sugar Network and NBCU's iVillage women's destination will share entertainment content, and NBCU's Digital Media sales team will be the exclusive sales agent for Sugar Publishing.

Sugar previously raised $5 million last September from Sequoia Capital.
