Online Game Developer Funcom Raises $30 Million

Durham, N.C. - Funcom, a developer and publisher of online games for PC, consoles and mobile platforms, announced on Wednesday that it has raised $30 million in a private placement, from unnamed investors.

The company has offices in Durham, N.C., as well as in China, Switzerland and Norway, and is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange.

Funcom will use the funds to strengthen marketing and operations prior to the Oct. 30 launch of its massively multiplayer online game "Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures."

The company also operates online games including "Anarchy Online" and "Dreamfall: The Longest Journey."
