New York - A federation of 19 European soccer leagues has joined a class action copyright lawsuit against Google's YouTube, joining established plaintiffs that include English and French sports leagues, and music publishers Bourne and Cherry Lane.

The Switzerland-based Association of European Professional Football Leagues (EPFL) called on YouTube to "immediately cease their massive and rampant infringement."

The EPFL is particularly concerned because YouTube has recently launched localized sites in seven European countries.

Filed on May 4 in federal court in New York, the lawsuit asks that YouTube stop its use of plaintiffs' content, adopt technology to prevent future uses, and seeks damages for past infringements.
