Licensing Launched for Blu-ray Content Protection Technology BD+Authored by Mark Hefflinger on June 29, 2007 - 11:09am.
Los Angeles - BD+ Technologies, the licensor of content protection technology for Sony's Blu-ray Disc standard, on Friday announced the completion of its licensing program. The "Virtual Machine-based" content protection has already been implemented into all Blu-ray Disc players in the marketplace, but updated technical specification are now available. "Fox has vigorously fought against piracy for years and the adoption of BD+ as part of the Blu-ray Disc specification, and an enhancement over and above AACS, was a key factor in our decision to publish on the format," said Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment president Mike Dunn.
