We’re looking for a Director of Technology who will be able to tell the Friendsters from the Facebooks at 100 yards, leap tall databases in a single upload, and keep Participant saddled high on best-of-breed solutions. You are the Optimus Prime of infrastructure, and you will have a serious hand in the creative growth of our new social action network.

We’re looking for an in-house tech guru with F8 vision, but not so much Plaxo pedigree. We need someone that will help us develop and nurture innovative ideas into real world applications, widgets and killer apps. Applicants are required to be best friends with industry stalwarts like scalability, redundancy and reliability. Just like our movies, our online presence will pair entertainment with social change and social media – and it’s difficult to save the world without someone protecting us from downtime.

High visibility opportunity to work on site architecture, CMS, CRM, platform/widget integration, hosting environment, vetting relevant technologies and working with external developers/vendors. More importantly, this position will be supporting every level of the user interface and experience.

Sample day-to-day responsibilities:

* Vet technological requirements from application and site developers
* Supervise integration of 3rd party services
* Oversee core architecture development
* Interface with site design/interface/QA teams across launches
* Work with hosting providers to maximize site performance
* Supervise internal web designer and project teams
* Manage user databases, and integrate content and applications seamlessly
* Mitigate technology and support costs with service providers

Sample requirements:

* 4-5 years experience in digital or technology development/operations
* Familiarity with core architecture and infrastructure platforms
* Strong familiarity with core web technologies such as Drupal, PHP, XML, Ajax, Flash, etc(!) a plus
* Ample love of entertainment, community and changing the world…
* Great social and project management skills (eco, not ego)
