Shanda Acquires Chinese Online Games Firm Aurora Technology

Shanghai, China - Shanda Interactive Entertainment, an operator of online games in China, announced that it has acquired Chengdu Aurora Technology Development Co., a developer and operator of multiplayer online games in China.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2004, Aurora operates online games including "Legend Online" and "Feng Yun Online," the latter of which counts over 6 million registered users.

"Both Feng Yun Online and Legend Online are excellent additions to our existing 3D MMORPG portfolio and we plan to utilize our strong operating platform and operational expertise to better monetize these titles," said Shanda chairman and CEO Tianqiao Chen.

"In addition, the acquisition will also help us establish a new R&D center in Chengdu, which is one of Western China's major cities."
